Dr. Joanna Lai graduated with Dean’s Honour’s List from the School of Optometry, University of Waterloo. Before practicing in Ontario, she worked closely with several ophthalmologists in Surrey, British Columbia, where she expanded her clinical experiences in performing post-cataract surgery follow-ups, binocular vision training, ocular emergency management, as well as corneal diseases/infections management. Dr. Matt Maruno graduated with Honours from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry. His ocular disease internship took him to Houston, Texas where he learned alongside multiple ophthalmologists at the Houston Eye Associates, and developed a special interest in glaucoma management. Dr. Maruno is certified by the Board of Examiners in Optometry, and is certified to prescribe Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA’s) in Canada. Dr. Betty Chen grew up in Markham, Ontario and completed her undergraduate studies in Life Sciences at Queen’s University. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with Honours from the Doctor of Optometry program in 2022. Dr. Chen is accredited by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO), as well as the Treatment and Management of Ocular Diseases (TMOD).
